MORECO (Mohawk Valley Rehabilitation Corporation) was established in 1978, under the umbrella of MVEDD and was formed to relieve and reduce unemployment, to promote and to provide for additional and maximum employment, to better and to maintain job opportunities within the Mohawk Valley by encouraging economic development and industry retention. MORECO administers a revolving loan fund (RLF) provided under Title IX of the Public Works and Economic Development Act of 1965.
To make loans to businesses that cannot otherwise obtain traditional bank financing, the Title IX and CARES Act loan fund provides access to capital as gap financing which enables small businesses to grow and lead to new employment opportunities with competitive wages and benefits. To address and help alleviate the economic barriers faced by many small NYS agribusiness owners, the JDA agriculture loan fund will promote, develop and advance those businesses. The fund makes loans available to small scale agribusiness firms that are looking to start or expand, but face steep economic challenges.
