Notice is hereby given that Turin Hoefler Avenue LLC has applied for funding from the Mohawk Valley Economic Development District’s (MVEDD) EPA Brownfield Revolving Loan Fund to complete abatement of asbestos containing materials (TSI, Floor Tile, Transite, tank insulation, duct tape and gaskets) within buildings 82, 83, 84, 85 and 86 located on Site E of the former Remington site located at 14 Hoefler Avenue, Ilion NY. The application includes a draft Alternative Brownfield Cleanup Analysis (ABCA) that will be available for review at the public meeting on Monday May 18th, 2026, at 6PM the Ilion Village Hall located at Village of Ilion 49 Morgan St., Ilion, NY 13357.
The draft Alternative Brownfield Cleanup Analysis (ABCA) will be available for review and comment at the MVEDD office located at 26 W Main St, Mohawk, NY 13407 between the hours of 8AM and 4PM or on MVEDD’s website https://mvedd.org/.

The Former Remington Arms site is located at 14 Hoefler Ave in Ilion, NY (Herkimer County. The site is currently vacant with 44 industrial buildings, one to four stories high. Many of these buildings are connected, totaling ~1M sq ft. and are primarily constructed of brick and mortar, steel framing, and concrete slab foundations. The majority of buildings were constructed between 1914 and 1916, with additions from the 1940s to the 1980s. The site is identified by the Herkimer County Tax Assessor as: 120.37-5-8, 120.37-5-9, and 120.37-5-10

This project is funded with monies from the US EPA and MVEDD.

The Fashion Tanning site is located at 108 Van Road in Johnstown (Fulton County). The site is ~13 acres with four buildings on site, totaling ~60,000 sq ft in various degrees of disrepair. All the buildings are vacant and abandoned, with drums of hazardous substances throughout the facilities. The site is identified by the Fulton County Tax Assessor as 149-1-36.2 and 149-1-36.11.
The county is looking to redevelop this site for multi-purpose uses including office and warehouse space once the drums have been removed.

This project is funded with monies from the US EPA and MVEDD.
The former school is located at 7456 East Street in Newport (Herkimer County). The site is 1.10 acres and is occupied by a vacant 25,584 sq ft building that was constructed in 1928 and abandoned in 1990. The building is surrounded by paved parking, drive areas, and open grass areas. The building is dilapidated with trash and collapsing interior walls and ceilings. This site is identified by the Herkimer County Tax Assessor as SBL 094.47.2-8.2.
The redevelopment of this site will be determined with community input with the priority being the removal of the existing hazard and blight to the community.
