A culvert assessment is completed through the North Atlantic Aquatic Connectivity Collaborative (NAACC). With a stream crossing survey, one looks for streams that crosses a roadway, checks to see if aquatic organisms are able to pass through.
The survey gives you a good indication of whether or not the stream crossing is sized correctly in the event of a flood. It also checks for any blockage preventing water and organisms from moving through.
Culvert Assessments is part of stream crossing protocol and is an ACTION in Climate Smart Communities and is a FREE service.
